The phrase Al-Maa’uun is referenced in the 107th chapter of the Holy Qur’an. The meaning of the phrase represents us because we believe that we are better when we work together. It doesn’t matter what race, ethnicity, culture or religion you represent–you CAN make a difference in this world.
Grounded in Tradition. Inspired by Faith.
Our story begins in 1996, when we joined a coalition between the McKnight Foundation, three major Christian organizations and the Jewish Community Relations Council.
Our shared goal:
To unite faith communities to meet local needs.
Choose Unity. Get Connected.
Ways That We Are Serving
Food
Our food program provides basics to support healthy lives and energy to get things done each day: studying, working, creating and supporting families.
Work
The Work Program helps those seeking job opportunities by providing resume support, vetting, support and preparation, technical training, job placement and additional schooling.
Housing
Securing dependable housing is essential to the stability of families and individuals across our community.
Returning Citizens
We support people returning home and aid them in re-entering into society.
DAY OF DIGNITY
Is an annual day of service and community building. This all-day event provides people with health care services, haircuts, meals, winter clothing, school supplies and health/hygiene supplies.
Volunteer
We work with volunteers to meet the needs in our community.
Get Involved
We are a volunteer-led nonprofit. Therefore, we humbly ask you to consider
helping our neighbors. Whether you choose to volunteer, donate or both your
sacrifice helps the community grow and flourish.
North Minneapolis is a dynamic collection of neighborhoods in the northwest region of Minneapolis-Saint Paul. However, historical, social and environmental challenges present a barrier to building economic stability. This is why the work we do is so important.
Our donors help make sure that people have what they need to reach their full potential. This not only positively impacts the individual but it impacts the community as a whole–for the better.
